The Other End of the Phone Call

The Cellphone Age

You would think with all the modern ways of telecommunication we'd get crystal clear connections and state of the art sound with all of our cellphone conversations, right? Not always. Calls still drop, get fuzzy and muffled. What the ...?

Here's my interpretation of what it sounds like on the other end of our phone conversations sometimes. You know, those weird noises? Just for fun.

You on your stationary bike: Stranded in the middle of the desert, waiting to be rescued by freedom fighters. Sandstorm brewing.

You eating potato chips: Crunching gravel spinning out from tires in a car chase.

You washing dishes: Intergalactic space battle with lasers and tie fighters.

You brushing your teeth: Mission control trying to contact you but the connection is broken. "Houston, we have a problem."

You getting ready for bed: Soaring in a hang-glider over a beach. You're finally rescued!

You in your car: Underwater pressure in a submarine with sonar sounding.

Put all the above together and you've got a little bedtime story.

Car chase doesn't end well. As you skid to the side, spiting gravel, the bad guys overtake you and wrench you from the vehicle. You are dragged onto a waiting submarine by the dock and speed overseas to Saudi Arabia where you are forced to trek into the desert. Freedom fighters come out of nowhere and pluck you from your misery and somehow you find yourself on a space shuttle which is in danger of being taken over by extraterrestials (does NASA know about this?) You manage to elude them and re-enter the atmosphere, burning through the ozone until at last you enter gravity, where instead of a parachute, all you have is a hang-glider. Good thing you took those lessons all those years ago.

Well done.

Or maybe it's all just left over from a dream I had last night.

I'm one of the few folks I know who doesn't carry a cell phone. I think you've helped me see life is more comfortable without one, lol.
