The Filler

Beginnings

I had this idea to start a novel called "The Primer" since I seemed to forever be the transition girl for guys on their way to true love. Then an actual book (and movie) came out called "The Starter Wife". So it's been done. To death. But still. I have thoughts. Fictional of course. Creative license. That sort of thing. Here's my imaginary first chapter anyway.

Not quite sure when I stopped being a first choice and more of a "filler". I'm the one you talk to while you are working things out, lending the sympathetic ear, holding your hand, until you are stronger and can walk on outta there. Not to sound self-pitying but no one's been interested in my story for a really long time. Then again I'm pretty independent so I don't always need to pour my heart out (except on paper). Cue noir music.

Here we go

Loyalty is a thing in my family. Your word measures your value. My father will trek 20 miles in the snow to return the quarter he borrowed from you. Just because he said he would. I can't say that I always keep my promises. But I sure try. You know how life is though. Gets in the way sometimes.
