Cosmo Sex Tips
71
I admit it, I'm addicted to Cosmopolitan Magazine. While I used to subscribe to Vogue, Elle, Omni, Audubon and some higher end mags, the more I dated (as a single, older - by L.A. standards - gal), I've started getting more out of Cosmo. Presumably, my age group is supposed to be dignified enough to read More and the "older" Cosmo Redbook. Tried it. Boring! While I'm not one to try to act younger - I dress my age, and hip at that, if I do say so myself, I like the youthful and um, vigorous energy of Cosmo.
Especially the sex tips. Some of them are ridiculous of course. Have sex in a closet for something different to try! Uh, why? There's no room in there (I've only had a walk-in closet once in my life) and super uncomfortable, which is why people tell you to come out (hah). I get the appeal of different furniture - kitchen table (you washed it afterward, right?), sofa (duh), chairs (good lap dancing) etc. I wouldn't recommend the floor more than once, unless you have carpeting and even then rug burns can last for months (seriously). The bed looks more and more appealing and didn't you already do the car thing in high school?
I get the idea of spicing things up, role playing (with scarves and everything) etc, but sometimes the absurdity of it overwhelms me and it just ends up being hilarious. Which is OK too, if you are truly enjoying trying out new things. You don't have to like everything. Reading Cosmo, for me at least, means I'm still interested in experimenting, still open to fantasy, whether or not I actually act on any of those things. The magazine makes fun seem normal and self-consciousness a thing of the past. There's only so much you can accomplish on your own. And while that's important too, it's better in the long run to incorporate a partner to share in what you like. Which you should have determined by now, right?
I like to think that the older I get, the more comfortable I am with myself, but sometimes it's hard not to compare yourself to the twenty-somethings or even the younger version of yourself. My best sex tips? (no offense, Cosmo) Take care of yourself, physically and mentally, exercise, read, adventure, be interesting to yourself first. Then you will be more at ease opening up the latest issue and saying, "What do you say we try this?" Especially after some yoga classes.
The single most important tip is of course to HAVE FUN!

Ha, great hub.. had me laughing at the end there. They really can be absurd, I'm so glad I'm not the only one to think so. Rated up and awesome! :)
To have to read up a whole lot of tips about How to's, try imagination, communication and sensitivity - then add the sense of exploration.
mailed this to my girl and she really likes it and plans to put it to use....thanks alot
HAhaha.. oops! Well every one is different; Marion cannot compare with Melany, and Peter is heavier than Tom... You make more sense than that freelancer behind a desk at Cosmo headquarters. Most likely he/she was bored or splited up with an ex the night before. Thanks for the interesting hub. So, sex after 40's is more mature?

Hi Kate, I used to be a hard core reader of Cosmo myself, but later switched to other interests. They do throw some interesting suggestions, especially about sex! You are so right about just taking care of yourself and the rest will take care of itself.......
